Hail To the Chief
I thought I'd start this new section with presenting the biggest load of bullshit our country has seen in a while, our last election.
To start, in this country, why do we have elections? So the people can choose who leads them, right? So if the people choose, should every person's vote count? Of course! Bob Dole(R) said on MTV Choose or Lose "Every single vote in cast in this country makes a difference." This SHOULD have been the case in this past election, and in a few states, it was. But when it came down to the final state, all the rules were thrown out the window!
Everyone knows about the big legal battle over the election and how it ended up. My question is, on what basis was there a battle? If George W. Bush was so confident he was going to win, what would a recount hurt? If he had the votes, he still would have won, right? Of course. So why did he stop them? I never did hear a solid reason to answer that. The only reason I can come up with is that he was afraid he would lose. As you can tell, I supported Gore. If Gee Dubya would have said "Yeah, recount. Let's respect the decision." Right now I would be pissed Gore lost, but I'd accept Bush as our president. Republicans say Gore had a "Win by any means" mentality. They need to reexamine that.
Now that Bush is in, what can we expect? First and foremost to most people, when it comes time for him to appoint Supreme Court justices, he will appoint a pro-life person. That would change the balance of power to pro-life, which could reverse Roe Vs. Wade. BIG MISTAKE. Next, in his campaign he called for isolationist policies. This not only would kill our economy, but could possibly collapse others. Bush said our military is "sub par". Bullshit! We've cut funding, yes, but that's because we don't need it. We still spend more on defense than almost every other nation! We still have the best trained soldiers using the best equipment in the world.
Who knows what else is in store. He was the governor of a state without a public defender system what executed more inmates than anyother state. While he was killing people, he covered up his own DUI conviction. A crime which MADD has said should get a manditory prison term. This from the man who is going to "restore honor the the White House."
The divide in our nation is growing and the signs of civil disorder are appearing.
There once was a nation that had the best military, best scientists, strongest infostructure, and best quality of life for it's people in the world. Many issues began to divide the nation. The people were distracted by lewdness and the governments claims to fix the problems. A leader the people distrusted came to power and others rose agianst him. Finally the issues exploded and the great nation fell. The Fall of Rome sounds very familiar....
